Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)

Program Description

This course is design to provide the student with the knowledge and skills necessary to preform basic care services for a patient with long term care, assisted living communities, and acute care settings. It prepares the student to function in the role of Certified Nurse Aide under the supervision of Registered Nurse (RN) and License Practical Nurse (LPN). This course is design to meet the Virginia Board of nursing curriculum (VBON) and Department of Education (DOE). The basic Nurse Aide course proficiency examination is the state approved competency evaluation with both writing and manual skills components. This exam requires student to complete 80 hours of classroom lecture and 40 student clinical skills at different facilities with demonstration of competent hand on skill experiences. Successful completion of the course will allow the student to take the state certification exam. Student who passes the state computerized exam, will become Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA).

Personal Care Aide (PCA)

Program Description

This training design to meet 40 hours of nursing Aid training in combination of hands and classroom training, Graduates of this Personal Care Training (PCA) are only authorized to provide Personal Care Aide services to Medicaid waiver individuals. Student must pass skill check list and final exam in order to get certification. PCA help clients with self-care and everyday tasks. They also provide social supports and assistance that enable client to participate in their communities.

Direct Care Staff (DCS)

Program Description

This training curriculum design for 40 hours of basic care of client with mental disability, physically impairment or elderly client who needs assistance with activity of Daily Living (ADL). This curriculum component of individual topics meets the standard relating to adult care requirement of 22 VAC 40-72-250C 5 of Direct Care Staff training, and approved by Department of Social services. All student must be able to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing. Student Direct care staff should complete the training within 30 days of beginning of work in assisted Living facilities, in order to provide unsupervised ADL care. After completion of the training curriculum, student take final exam, and receive certification of completion of the Direct Care Staff training. Direct Care Staff also works in residential homes, assisted living facilities, private homes.

Certified Medication Aide (CMA)

Program Description

By the end of completion of CPR/AED/First Aid classes and training programs, the student will be given an exam and rewarded two years EMS CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
